Disneyland after the pumpkin patch plus a Halloween Party

After visiting Tanaka pumpkin patch, since it's so close by Irvine, we stopped by Disneyland!
Ian's not so sure about his Halloween hat. That's okay buddy, I'll wear it today.
It's always great to be back here.

I love all the creative costumes that come out around Halloweentime. Here's Cinderella, Jaq and Gus Gus.

You know where we're really headed though right? We've been to Disneyland so often, we're always happy to see something new. The festival arena has special Halloween events going on and there are pumpkin carvers and new pumpkins to see every time we visit.

Someone won't be seeing pumpkins though. The morning must have worn him out.

As luck would have it our favorite pumpkin carver is here today. Ray Brown findraybrown.com got us interested in pumpkin carving all the way back in 2007. We spoke for a couple minutes and found that he was recently on the Food Network show Halloween Wars. His team made it all the way to the finals with the finale airing Sunday night. Cool! Time to go watch a Halloween Wars marathon tomorrow.

We were just here a week ago, so we've seen a lot of these, but there are a few new ones.
Maleficent.

Oogie Boogie

Zero

Jiminy Cricket

A Minnie Mouse witch

Mickey Mouse with a colorful paint brush

Great seeing the characters out and about here.

Donald's costume is cute

Grace, Gene and Elliott sure were taking their time to get here. T and I grabbed a snack while we waited to hear from them. They'd eventually let us know they were held up at the main gate in a line for over 30 minutes. This new policy of having just one cast member collect tickets and take pictures of anyone with a multi-day ticket is really slowing things down.

Ian had a nice long nap.

Once Grace and Gene arrived, we met up with them at the Hungry Bear Restaurant. The Hungry Bear has a few seasonal specials. Even though that Iced Tea was expensive, I decided to have one of everything.

The Hungry Bear was really crowded and we waited 15 minutes just to order food. After ordering, I had to wait in another line to get the food. The drinks were assembled very quickly which was actually a bad thing. My iced tea must have sat for at least 8 minutes while they put the food together, meaning all the ice melted in the mean time. Ah, that's why it's so expensive. There's a glow cube in this drink for some reason. Didn't see that on the sign.

Heading back to the table, Theresa and I both tried the drink and were understandably underwhelmed. It was pretty watered down. After we drank the top half though, it was actually pretty good with a nice spicy kick to it. If you could get it without the glow cube, I might get it again.

The blue cheese and onion marmalade burger was next. I like blue cheese, but I don't love blue cheese. I was curious to see if it would be overwhelming or not. Luckily it was a mild blue cheese flavor and didn't overpower everything. The onion marmalade was the star of this burger though. It was very sweet with a good flavor. This I would definitely order again.

Dessert was an enormous caramel apple funnel cake. This tasty treat took up an entire plate and was piled high with apples, whipped cream, caramel and brown sugar. Definitely a dessert to split two ways.

But with Ian around that might be three ways. He was able to get a finger into the whipped cream and caramel.

And his mommy let him go ahead and have a taste.

Someone likes it.

It was a tasty lunch. I'm glad we tried out the new offerings.

The park is packed today. It would have been great to ride the Haunted Mansion Holiday, but the wait time was 90 minutes. We're happy to go on short lined rides like Winnie the Pooh.

And also the Enchanted Tiki Room. T and I weren't too sure how Ian would like it since it's somewhat dark and things are making noises all over the place.

Luckily for us, he's really been fascinated with small animals like birds and squirrels lately so he was enamored with everything.

He really liked waving at all the birds on the perches above us. I think we've got another ride we'll be going on more often.

It's been a busy day with a lot of stuff going on, but we're not through yet. We hop on the tram, head to the car and drive home to get ready.

Because tonight, we're going to Steph and Farman's house for a Halloween party! Doesn't Ian look adorable in his Woody costume! I have a mini me.

Woody and Jessie

Farman and Steph always go all out for Halloween, having come up with some fantastic costumes over the years. This year they stepped it up to another level. They're Groot and Rocket from the latest Marvel hit Guardians of the Galaxy.

And here's the Round-up Gang.

Whew. Busy day, but fun.
